A delegation from the Central Municipal Council (CMC) visited the waste treatment centre in Mesaieed yesterday.
The delegation, headed by Engineer Hamad bin Lahdan al-Mohannadi, CMC Vice-Chairman and head of the public services and utilities committee, was briefed on the centre’s work and functions.
The delegation included members of the public services and utilities committee and a number of CMC officials.
Director of the waste treatment centre Safar Mubarak al-Shafi briefed the CMC members on the work and function of the centre as well as it sections.
The centre comprises state-of-the-art waste sorting and recycling facilities, an engineered landfill, a composting plant and a 1,500 tonnes per day Waste-to-Energy (WTE) incineration plant.
