The Commercial Registration and Licences Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) recorded 1,150 new commercial registrations last month.
Another 236 registrations were cancelled. The new registrations included 910 main registrations and 240 sub-registrations while the cancelled registrations included 57 main registrations and 179 registrations. The new commercial registrations include 409 main registrations and 90 sub-registrations of companies with limited liabilities,  followed by the one person companies; 372 main registrations and 115 sub-registrations, and single foundation firms; 118 main and 25 sub-registrations.
The most active commercial registrations in October according to the activity included contracting firms (25%), building material companies (10%), eateries, and vegetable and fruits shops (5%), factories (3%), detergents (4%) and other activities (53%).

Dodge Caravan vehicles recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has announced a free recall campaign for Dodge Caravan vehicles manufactured during 2008- 2010 for a defect which may cause the operation switch to accidentally shift to shut down the engine while running. The campaign is jointly conducted with the United Cars Al-Mana Company.

Qatar hosting GCC nutrition committee meeting
Qatar is hosting tomorrow the 7th meeting of the GCC nutrition committee.
The two-day meeting will be inaugurated by Sheikh Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani, director of the Public Health Department at the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), and member of the executive body of the GCC health ministers’ council.
Sheikha Dr al-Anoud bint Mohamed al-Thani, director of Health Protection and Non-communicable diseases at SCH, said that the meeting will discuss a number of important related topics such as the issues of nutrition in the GCC region including overweight, proper nutrition practices, school nutrition programmes, and table salt consumption.

Rain, thunder likely today
Rain and thunder, along with strong winds, are expected in the country today, the Met office has said.
Doha is among the places where rain is likely today, besides Al Ruwais, Dukhan, Abu Samra and Messaied, while Al Khor will see cloudy conditions, according to the forecast.
The wind speed will go up to 25kt in certain areas during the thundershowers. In offshore areas, it will reach 18kt. Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 3km or less in some places today.  
It will be hazy to misty in some places at first, followed by partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with scattered rain, which may be accompanied by thunder at times, the weather office has said.
Hazy and partly cloudy conditions are expected in offshore areas with a chance of scattered rain.
The minimum and maximum temperatures in the country are likely to be 22C and 31C, with the forecast for Doha being 26C and 31C.
