HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has asked the ministers to prepare detailed programmes to ensure that the directives contained in the speech of HH the Emir at the Advisory Council are implemented “through a single integrated vision”.

The premier’s directive came after he chaired on Wednesday the cabinet’s regular weekly meeting which reviewed the speech of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the opening of the Advisory Council’s 44th regular session a day earlier.

Following the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud said that the cabinet reviewed the speech and “what it included of important directives and what HH specified of basics and work approaches in order to carry on the development and construction process in the coming phase on all fronts”.

The cabinet reviewed the Emir’s directives to the ministers and those working on the national development strategy to achieve goals through a working plan, “and clear standards while filling the gaps in planning and improving coordination and focusing on outputs and outcomes”.

It also reviewed HH the Emir’s assertion on the necessity of achieving financial and economic stability by fostering competitiveness, monitoring prices, promoting the role of the private sector and attracting investments.

The Cabinet reviewed other topics on the agenda and took a set of decisions and measures. It approved a draft law on land transport of dangerous materials, with the bill including provisions related to regulations of practising land transfer of dangerous materials, conditions of practising the work of transport provider, types of licences, duties of the licensee, conditions of granting licences to transport vehicles, licence fees, expiry and cancellation, and insurance of cross border transport of dangerous materials.

The cabinet endorsed an Emiri draft decision on Hamad Port that specified the marine borders of Hamad Port according to the map and coordinates attached to the decision.

In addition, the cabinet ratified a draft agreement on cooperation and integration in the field of earthquakes and geophysics between the Civil Aviation Authority (Qatar Meteorology Department) and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR).

It also ratified draft agreements between the government of Qatar and the governments of each of Venezuela and Cuba to waive visa for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports.

Additionally, the cabinet reviewed letters from the office of HE the premier and HE minister of development planning and statistics on Qatar’s ranking in the annual Global Competitiveness Report for 2015.

The cabinet praised Qatar’s advanced results in the areas of economic performance, government efficiency and business sector efficiency as Qatar ranked 13 among 61 of mostly advanced countries that were included in the report.
