The community meeting, convened jointly by Ashghal and Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning (MMUP) yesterday at Al Khor Sports Club evoked a lot of interest as the residents ventilated their demands and grievances.
The interactive session was held after presentations on various projects, currently underway in the country’s northern region, were made.
Some of the members said the areas where they stayed deserved more attention from the authorities as the condition of roads was appalling.
While replying to their queries, senior Ashghal officials said works would be taken up on a war footing and roads and other amenities would always receive maximum attention from the authority.
Officials denied the charges made by some community members that some of the areas in the northern region were neglected continuously over the years. They said balanced development would be ensured in each of the zones in the country and works in Al Khor areas would receive more attention in future.
The Ashghal officials also added that top priority would be accorded to the development of Al Khor since it is the second largest city of the country, housing a large population on its outskirts.
The officials also assured the gathering that the ongoing road development work in Al Khor would be completed on schedule.
