Qatar marks World Sight Day today
Qatar joins the world in marking the World Sight Day (WSD) today under the theme: ‘Eye Health for All’ in light of the Vision 2020 - The Global Initiative for the Elimination of Avoidable Blindness - Right to Sight. The day is observed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to eradicate causes of avoidable blindness by the year 2020. The Supreme Council of Health, by marking the World Sight Day, aims at increasing all community members’ awareness of the importance of periodic eye and vision examinations and the focus on weak sight and avoidable blindness.

Nissan Infiniti cars recalled

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has recalled the 2013-2014 models of Nissan Infiniti (Pathfinder JX35/R52 and QX60) due to a defect in the secondary hood latch. The ministry said the recall comes within the framework of ongoing co-ordination and follow-up by the ministry to ascertain the extent of car dealerships’ commitment to follow up vehicles’ defects and repair them to protect consumers’ rights. The ministry also stressed that it will co-ordinate with the dealership to follow up maintenance and repair operations and will communicate with customers to ensure implementation of the procedures to fix defects. The ministry urged consumers to report any abuses or irregularities by communicating with the Department of Consumer Protection and Commercial Fraud Combat which will receive complaints, suggestions and inquiries through its communication channels.

Alumni to hold festive celebrations
Farook College Old Students Association (FOSA Qatar) is celebrating Eid-Onam tomorrow at Tyba Gardens, behind Tata showroom on Salwa Road. The programme called “Chingari – Flame by FOSA”, include a live orchestra, kids corner and buffet.
