Ministry launches a new service
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has launched a new service, under which “business licences” can be issued and renewed through mobile phone application. The facility will be available on Android and iPhones under the MEC_Qatar name. The service launch followed a trial period, MEC said yesterday. MEC said the new initiative comes as part of its “smart electronic services”  to speed up delivery of services and promote trade and investment in Qatar. Service delivery can be made in minutes through the mobile phone application if proper procedures are followed, it said. Text messages will be sent to applicants if the ministry requires additional information from them. On successful completion of the procedures and fee payment, business licences will be e-mailed to the applicants.
