LuLu Hypermarket Group is hosting the Pinoy Fiesta until October 20.
Philippine ambassador Wilfredo Santos officially inaugurated the festival at LuLu Hypermarket, D-Ring Road, yesterday evening.
The inauguration took place in the presence of Mohamed Althaf, director of LuLu Group International, several other LuLu officials, dignitaries and senior executives from leading business groups in the retail industry.
Like last year, the group has organised the Pinoy Fiesta in a “big way” this time, too, it noted in a statement yesterday. Through the fiesta, LuLu has “endeavoured to celebrate the culinary heritage and food habits of the Philippines, as well as to highlight and promote the best-quality Filipino food products and agricultural produce among the local community”.
LuLu Group has been organising the Pinoy Fiesta for several years as part of its annual food festivals. This year, there is an “exclusive focus on Filipino food habits, taking into consideration its long heritage”, the statement further notes.
Over the next two weeks, special promotional campaigns and offers have been planned on a number of imported items in association with brands such as Mama Sita’s, Ligo, Del Monte, CDO, Lucky Me,
Selecta, UFC Century, etc.
As for agricultural produce, stocks of langsat, white onion, curly parsley, Philippine mango, garlic, morning glory leaves, bean sprout, paksoi, baby paksoi, saba, calamansi, guyabano, mangosteen (wild), jicamas, dragon fruit, durian, pomelo, papaya, tanglad, kamote (white and violet), kamias, ube, rambutan, pandan leaves, pineapple, banana, senorita banana, sweet corn and hass avocado are on display and will be available throughout the festival period.
According to the LuLu management, renowned Mama Sita’s chef Andro Coronel Faderanga will conduct exclusive live cooking sessions for Pinoy food-lovers during the festival.
A raffle draw has also been organised for customers who buy any of the offered items for QR25. The participants are entitled to win 15 “to and fro”
air tickets for the Manila sector.
An official from the LuLu management said necessary arrangements have been made for customers to “taste the versatility of Filipino cuisine and buy food
products of their choice”.
