India’s ace quiz master, Siddharth Basu, will anchor the 19th Inter-School Quiz Competition organised by the Indian Women’s Association (Qatar chapter). The contest will be held at Birla Public School on October 23.
Britannia and GRB are the main sponsors of the event.
Basu is anchoring a show for the first time in Doha. He had staged several popular quiz shows on the Indian and foreign television channels, including Quiz Time and Master Mind, India,  University Challenge (BBC World) and India’s Child Genius (Star World) .
His production house, Big Synergy, has also made such popular shows as Jhalak Dikhhla, India’s Got Talent and Dud Ka Dum, which were telecast  on Indian television channels. According to the local organisers, they have already sent invitations to as many as 42 schools. Besides Indian schools, they expect some of the other well-known local schools, including American School of Doha, Dukhan English School and Philippines School of Doha.
While 12 schools have already confirmed their participation, the organisers expect more schools to take part in the preliminary contest (written). The show is expected to draw some 450 students from different schools.
Six teams will qualify for the final. Children of Classes 6, 7 and 8 could represent the participating teams. Each team should consist of at least one student each from the above three grades.
