Doha yesterday hosted the 17th meeting of undersecretaries of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) housing ministries.
Qatar presided over the meeting that discussed a number of important topics, including the rules of housing information, building code and GCC award in housing field and housing-related workshops among others.
The meeting was held to prepare for the 14th meeting of the GCC housing ministers to be held in Doha today.
Assistant Undersecretary for Social Affairs at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Ahmed Nasr al-Nasser said the meeting was a continuation of the achievements made by the GCC and seeks to consolidate co-operation in order to promote joint housing action based on a clear vision and effective strategy.
Al-Nasser stressed the importance of sharing the experiences of each other in an effort to overcome the difficulties and address obstacles facing the housing sector.
He said the meeting would discuss important issues so that more achievements can be made in an attempt to accomplish the aspirations and directives of the leaders of the GCC countries in the development of policies, strategies and legislation related to housing field.
Those policies, strategies and legislations aim to achieve further gains for the citizens of the GCC countries and achieve the desired well-being through the provision of adequate housing for the family, al-Nasser added.
