Officials at the Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Environment have discussed ideas and suggestions for the development of the fisheries sector in Qatar.
During visits to the Council of Fishermen, the officials also discussed the current status of the sector and ways to regulate the exploitation of this vital resource in the state, according to a working plan for fishing developed by the ministry as part of a five-year environmental plan that began in 2011 and ends in 2016.
Director of the Fisheries Department Mohamed Said al-Shaqiri al-Mohannadi said the visits came in response to the demands of fishermen who asked to be involved in the future plans for the development of the sector and fishing in the country.
