Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) said on Saturday that it managed to meet the increased demand for electricity in the summer, especially during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, through the National Control Centre.
In a statement, Kahramaa said the growth in demand was due to the high temperature witnessed during the period mentioned above.
The highest load, 7,070mw, was recorded on August 22. It marked an increase of about 5% over the level registered last year, 6,740mw.
Besides, the statement noted that the maximum system demand recorded in June and July were 6,890mw (June 6) and 6,985mw (July 29), respectively.
On the other hand, 230 faults were recorded in the June-August period, representing around 38% of the total 599 faults witnessed in 2015 so far.
The corporation said its operations were in line with the high-quality performance indicators for the electricity network and it managed to reduce faults in the June-August period. These efforts are part of its endeavour to provide high-quality services to customers, the statement added.
Kahramaa has opened maintenance workshops in order to ensure stable electricity supply and deal with faults on the spot, in co-ordination with the call centre, 991.
