Official faces negligence charge

A Doha Misdemeanour Court is reviewing a case in which a Ministry of Justice official has been charged with negligence in performing his duties and causing harm to others through his acts.
A businessman had submitted a sale contract, stating that he had bought his partner’s shares in a well-known medical centre and its branches, for registration by the said official, according to local Arabic daily Arrayah.
The official, however, registered the contract without verifying the details. The regulations stipulate that the official concerned should ask both parties to come to his office and sign the contract in front of him before the registration is completed.
The partner later filed a case claiming that he did not know anything about the sale process and had never sold his shares to the aforementioned businessman.
Following an investigation, the official was charged with negligence and failure to carry out his duties. Besides, the court charged the businessman who had submitted the contract with fraud.
The case is being heard in the court.
