With its next generation of infotainment and assistance systems, the renowned German auto brand Audi, represented by Q-Auto, is collaborating with leading IT firms to develop revolutionary features that are available across a range of premium Audi models.
The latest innovations include the Audi virtual cockpit as well as the Audi smartphone interface and 3D Sound. With the Audi phone box, for instance, drivers can pair their phones with the onboard infotainment system, and get a wireless inductive charge to boot. The applications can be controlled by voice, the rotary/push-button control and the multifunctional steering wheel.
The state-of-the-art Audi virtual cockpit is featured in top-ranging models such as the Audi TT and TTS, and the soon to be launched Q7 model in Qatar. Designed as a fully digital instrument cluster with highly detailed, versatile graphics, the driver can switch the 30cm, all-digital display between two different view modes.
The Audi MMI (multimedia interface) Navigation plus with MMI touch system allows the driver to use the MMI controls, touch pad or voice control to place a call, search for songs or change the settings of the car.
Audi’s cutting–edge navigation systems form part of its standard equipment, alongside its audio and sound systems. Some of the features include a hard drive for navigation, music and telephone data, a high-resolution colour monitor and 3D map graphics, a DVD player as well as voice control.
Audi provides owners a choice to upgrade their equipment with a host of optional features such as a Bluetooth interface, a TV tuner, plus rear seat entertainment, complete with a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Many Audi models offer assistance systems that enhance both comfort and safety. Audi’s preventive system ‘pre sense city’ in the Q7 model, for example, features a front-facing camera which can recognise a potential collision. The system warns the driver and initiates emergency braking, if necessary.
In the coming months, Audi Qatar is set to launch the removable iPad-like Audi tablet, a first-of-its-kind infotainment concept specifically developed for in-car use, while meeting all vehicle requirements. The brand’s infotainment systems are available across its luxurious line of vehicles featured in the Audi showroom on Salwa Road.
