The Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development has concluded its Bedaya Summer Camp for 70 male and female university and high school students from different educational institutions.
The summer camp, held August 23-27, included several workshops that focused on communication skills, personality analysis, leadership skills, business development, and CV writing.
Students participated in an introductory workshop at Aljazeera Café in Katara to kick-start the summer camp.  Other activities included visits to the Aqua Park, Museum of Islamic Art, the Sheikh Faisal Museum, parasailing, and art and hand crafting sessions.
At the end of the summer camp, students were given ‘job-shadowing’ assignments in several major local companies based on their career interests.
Participating companies included QNB for those interested in a business and marketing career, Sidra for students interested in administration and medical careers, Qatar Foundation Legal department for budding lawyers and paralegal aspirants, QChem for those interested in petrochemical engineering, Hamad Medical Corporation for students considering medical careers, and Aljazeera network, which appeals to those interested in media and PR careers.
Bedaya Centre general manager Reem al-Suwaidi said: “Bedaya’s Summer Camp gave students a great opportunity to use their summer holidays in a very productive way to learn some key workplace skills and further their career interests by experiencing working in their chosen career in job shadowing placements.”
The summer camp tops several major initiatives and activities Bedaya has achieved this year in career development that have already benefitted 2,000 Qatari youth.  Bedaya has also offered job-shadowing opportunities to some 200 students to help them identify the ideal career path to match their skills and personality.
