Ministry seeks separate display for ‘mandatory price list’ items
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has informed all vegetable and fruit outlets to separately display the products included in the ‘mandatory price list,’ from those imported through expensive options such as air cargo. MEC has urged consumers to ask for the ‘mandatory price list’ before purchase. They can get the list from the MEC website, social media channels or local media. If a locally produced cucumber costs QR6-7 per kg, it can go to QR10 or more when imported from abroad, especially if it comes from Europe.
