Around 102,352 students are expected to start the new school year at the local independent schools on September 6, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday. Khalifa al-Dirham, director of the Independent School Office at the Supreme Education Council (SEC), said that 108 Independent Schools are ready to receive students at the various stages throughout the country. There are also nine new schools and kindergartens.  He stressed the need for close co-operation and communication between parents and the school managements to encourage the regular attendance of students in the classes from the first school day. He pointed out that attendance rate would be calculated starting from the second school day.
