A group of Indian bike enthusiasts resident in Qatar  joined the 69th Indian Independence Day celebrations adding a lot of jubilation and exuberance to the  festivities.
Riding on their Harley Davidson bikes, they displayed the Indian national flag and attended the celebrations at the Indian Cultural Centre yesterday.
Speaking to Gulf Times, Devang Dasani, a member of the group said that they wanted to make this a memorable occasion. “We had taken special permission from the Ministry of Interior to ride as a group for this occasion. We started from Blue Radisson Hotel and passed through the Corniche to reach the ICC to join the flag-hoisting ceremony.”
Dasani said the members of the group were inspired by the development of their country and wanted to celebrate the country’s march towards prosperity by joining the independence day celebrations in a special way. He added that the idea was conceived in a short time and about 35 fellow riders joined the event.
“We would like to emulate the same example at other events too. Maybe, we will organise another group ride for the Republic Day of India in a bigger way,” he added.
Later, Indian Ambassador Sanjiv Arora greeted the bikers and congratulated them for  the initiative.
