Vodafone has announced the launch of its “enhanced” handset Trade Up service with an exclusive Samsung Galaxy S6 offer across all its stores.
With this Trade Up service - offered by Vodafone’s new vendor PCS Wireless, and the Samsung offer, customers trading their old mobile phones and buying the new Samsung Galaxy S6 will receive an extra QR400 discount on the S6 in addition to 15GB of free data per month for three months on postpaid and 6GB of free data for 90 days on prepaid.
To avail of the service, customers can bring their used phone to any of Vodafone’s retail stores and, with the instant value given, they can trade it in for anything in store. This includes new devices such as the latest 4G and 4G+ smartphones, accessories, prepaid credit or postpaid bill payment. The transaction happens simultaneously to ensure that the customer can use the Trade Up value immediately.
Customers do not need to bring their phone box, chargers or ear phones – only the phone and battery are enough. Moreover, there is 100% data security as Vodafone performs full professional data wiping before the phone is resold.
“Vodafone’s first Trade Up model, launched in June 2014, was a great success with close to 3,000 customers trading their old handsets with newer ones that allow them to enjoy faster data experience over Vodafone 4G and 4G+. All traded handsets have either been refurbished or recycled in support of eco-friendly operations,” the company said in a statement yesterday, noting that Vodafone is the only telecom operator in Qatar to offer such a service.
Two key factors are evaluated to determine the price of a phone - whether the phone powers on and whether the screen is cracked or broken. For example, a Samsung Galaxy S5 will be valued at QR750 and an S4 at QR540, while an iPhone 5s will be valued at QR950 and an iPhone 5 at QR630.
“We are delighted to launch the enhanced Vodafone Trade Up service with a global provider such as PCS Wireless. All the traded devices will be recycled, making the entire process very eco-friendly and clutter-free,” Vodafone Qatar stressed.
PCS Wireless added, “We are thrilled to partner with Vodafone Qatar to launch the country’s only mobile Trade Up programme.”
