The five-day Eid al-Adha celebrations will feature numerous family entertainment shows that cater to both young and old age groups, a senior official of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) told Gulf Times.
According to QTA’s ‘OnQatar’ website, the celebration will take place from September 23 to 27.
QTA’s festivals and events director Mashal Shahbik said they will have the same concept of Eid al-Fitr last month where events and activities are being held in participating malls.
“We will have three types of shows within the mall: stage, exclusive, and rotating shows and roaming acts,” she noted.
Family entertainment shows during the Eid al-Fitr holidays had attracted a large number of families in Qatar, as well as visitors from neighbouring GCC countries.
QTA will set up some special activations in the malls to engage children in a number of activities for the Eid celebration, according to Shahbik.
They will also establish information desks where mallgoers can ask and get details of Eid events and activities.
Shahbik said various tourism stakeholders in the country will continue holding their events as part of the Eid celebration.
She added that Katara – the Cultural Village - will again showcase its spectacular fireworks display and a number of shows on its esplanade.
While Souq Waqif regularly hosts Eid activities for children, the Sout Al Rayyan is expected to host a number of concerts.
The celebration will also see many programmes, magical and artistic shows taking place in some of the venues, according to OnQatar.
“Eid is more about celebration than creating a festival, it is a gathering of everything together,” Shahbik noted, adding that QTA is planning to sponsor some of these Eid events.
Besides the Eid al-Adha celebration, OnQatar also posted numerous events and exhibitions that will be held next month.
From September 1 to 30, the Qatar – Turkey photography exhibition at Katara will feature pictures of landscapes of people of the two countries taken by Qataris Sara al-Obaidly and Saleh al-Marri, and Turkish photographers Prof. Ali Muhammet Bay and Hasan Yelken. Admission is free.
