National Day greetings
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani  and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to President of Burkina Faso Michel Kafando on his country’s National Day.
The Emir, the Deputy Emir and the Prime Minister and Interior Minister have also sent cables of congratulations to the Governor-General of Jamaica Patrick Allen on his country’s National Day.

Temperature likely to rise
The temperature is expected to rise further today, reaching 45 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country, the Met office has said.
Humid and hazy to misty conditions will be experienced at some places in inshore areas, along with a hot day.
Partly cloudy and hazy to misty conditions will be seen in the offshore areas, according to the weather office.
Abu Samra is likely to be the hottest place in the country today, with the maximum temperature reaching 45 degrees Celsius. In Doha, the maximum temperature is expected to be 42 degrees Celsius.

Real estate transactions
The total value of trading in real estate sales contracts registered with the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice from July 26 to 30 amounted to QR1,428,786,349.

Embassy holiday
The South African embassy in Doha will remain closed on Sunday, August 9, on the occasion of “Women’s day” in South Africa. The embassy will resume work as usual on Monday, a statement issued by the mission yesterday said.

Kathak dance recital at Katara
Katara Cultural Village Foundation is staging an Indian classical dance recital at the Drama Theatre today.
Katara is staging the Kathak dance recital in collaboration with the Indian embassy to celebrate India’s 69th Independence Day.  The dance recital starts at 7pm, at Drama Theatre, Building 16, organisers said.

Indian I-Day function at ICC
The 69th Independence Day celebrations of India will be held at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) on August 15.
Indian ambassador to Qatar Sanjiv Arora will hoist the Indian tricolor at the ICC, at  7am.
Children of Indian schools will sing the  Indian National Anthem. Arora will read out Indian President’s message at the function.
Indian school children will also render some patriotic songs at the event.
