Ooredoo has announced that its ‘SharingOurBest’ campaign raised around QR500,000 for charity during Ramadan.
The campaign included events and activities with the community, the distribution of food boxes to the needy, and encouraged the public to donate to charity via Ooredoo’s nationwide network of self-service machines and award-winning Nojoom programme.
In addition, Ooredoo promised to match all donations made to Nojoom charity partners, which included Qatar Charity, the Sheikh Eid Bin Mohamed Al Thani Charitable Association, also known as Eid Charity, and the newest Nojoom charity partner, Afif, during Ramadan.
“We are delighted that this year’s Ramadan campaign had such a positive response. Ramadan is all about taking part in the spirit of the holy month and we couldn’t have asked for a better reaction. Together we’ve given back to the community, and helped charities to continue the work they do throughout the year,” according to Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, Director, Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo.
With the doubled donations, members of the Nojoom loyalty programme successfully raised an impressive QR232,400 worth Nojoom points for charities, with the additional bonus from Ooredoo resulting in nearly QR500,000 for charity. Ooredoo’s popular self-service machines also received QR2.27mn for charities during Ramadan.
In addition to charitable donations, the colourful characters of the Alrabaa and Ooredoo volunteers took part in a wide range of activities throughout Ramadan, including visits to hospitals, appearances at local malls, random acts of kindness and events for local charities.
During the period, Ooredoo distributed more than 1,000 dates and water packs to families on the Corniche, 600 Iftar meals, and 1,000 Garangao gifts at Souq Waqif.
Ooredoo has pledged to continue to support its customers throughout the year, with a host of local corporate social responsibility initiatives as part of its mission to enrich people’s lives.
