HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari arrived in Italy yesterday to take part in a conference of culture ministers of participant countries at Expo Milano 2015.
Al-Kuwari is set to address the conference today on the role of culture in achieving sustainable development.
Expo Milano is being held under the slogan “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” with food shortage being regarded as the major challenge facing the world population.
In Paris earlier yesterday, al-Kuwari stressed the importance of global change agendas that are the essence of  the UN Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) identity, noting that despite enormous pressure that faced them, G77+China remained united and co-operative for their interests.
Al Kuwari made the remarks as he addressed a meeting for the group at the Unesco  headquarters as part of preparations for the 14th session of Unctad. He called on the group’s members states to build in their development visions on Doha heritage, expressing hope that Unctad’s 14th session in the Peruvian capital of Lima would have a positive outcome.
