Qatar’s envoy presents credentials

Seychelles President James Michel received the credentials of Ibrahim bin Mohamed al-Abdullah, Qatar’s nonresident ambassador to Seychelles.
The ambassador conveyed HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s greetings and wishes of health and happiness to President James Michel.
President Michel reciprocated the Emir’s greetings and wished the ambassador success in his new post.

Independence Day greetings sent to Peruvian leader

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to President of Peru Ollanta Humala on his country’s Independence Day.

Lusail Expressway project making good progress
Around 60% of the Lusail Expressway project has been completed, a source from the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has told local Arabic daily Al Watan.
Work in different parts of the project has been progressing well, according to the sources.
The project includes a 5.3km highway with four lanes in both directions, besides additional lanes to facilitate traffic between interchanges. Three major interchanges are part of the project. These are the Wahda interchange, Onaiza interchange and Pearl interchange.

Zakat Fund reviews 537 applications

The Zakat Fund of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs reviewed 537 applications for aid in June.
The cases, which were studied by the Fund’s social and field research section, comprised 338 applications received at the men’s branch and 199 at the women’s.
In addition, the section reviewed 158 requests to renew expired aid in May. It also conducted field research at the residences of needy families in 72 cases.
The Zakat Fund treats applicants’ information with “strict confidentiality”, according to a statement.

Health inspection unit conducts 887 tours in Al Rayyan

The health inspection section of Al Rayyan Municipality conducted 887 tours in June and issued 153 violation reports.
Of the total violations, 145 were resolved through reconciliation with the municipality, which also got 43 outlets to sign affidavits stating they would fix the problems and not repeat such violations.
A total of 2,182kg of meat was destroyed as they were found unfit for human consumption in addition to 65 carcasses of sheep and 20,610 packages of food. These procedures resulted in fines estimated at QR183,000.
Five of the 887 inspection tours were surprise ones.
The municipality also conducted 34 inspections at new outlets for the purpose of issuing commercial registration to them.
