There is a “weak chance” of scattered rain in some parts of the country today, the Weather Office said yesterday. The weather will be hazy to misty in the morning and will be hot as the day progresses. “The day will also be slightly dusty and partly cloudy with a weak chance of scattered rain at places by midday,” the report from the Qatar Meteorology Department at the Civil Aviation Authority said. A maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 32 degrees has been forecast for Doha. Ruwais recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees.

Panel to discuss medicine prices
Qatar will host the 22nd meeting of the GCC committee for pricing of medicines from today. Dr Aisha Ibrahim al-Ansari, director of the Drug Control Department at the Supreme Council of Health, said the four-day meeting would discuss and study the pricing of drugs registered in Qatar. It is also expected to discuss the recommendations of the Central Committee for Registration of Medicines on the pricing of centrally-registered drugs. She stressed that the main objective behind the standardisation of medicine prices was to provide high-quality drugs at reasonable rates.

Ban on catching kingfish soon
The Ministry of Environment is preparing to enforce a ban on catching kingfish from August 15 to October 15. A number of inspectors will be deployed to detect any violations, in co-operation with the Coast Guard.
