Qatari leaders send Independence Day greetings
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of  Venezuela Nicolas Maduro and President George Carlos Fonseca of Cape Verde on their country’s Independence Day.

Chief of Staff meets Malaysian defence  minister
HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, Major General Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim, met the visiting Malaysian Minister of Defence Hishammuddin Hussein and his accompanying delegation yesterday.
They exchanged views on matters of mutual concern and issues related to the current situation.
The meeting was attended by Malaysia’s ambassador to Qatar Ahmed Jazri bin Mohamed Johar, and a number of senior armed forces commanders.

Those guilty of exam questions leak to be punished

The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has issued a statement admitting that questions of some exam papers of the general secondary schools had leaked, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.
“A limited number of cases of cheating and question leak had been spotted and investigations are going on in this issue. Those found guilty will be strictly punished and may be referred to the security entities concerned,” the SEC explained, according to the daily.

Dust storms likely, visibility to be poor

Visibility in several parts of the country is expected to fall considerably owing to dust storms today.
The maximum temperature expected today is 44C, and the minimum, 29C. Strong winds from the north will make Ruwais and suburbs a little cooler while higher temperatures are likely in Mesaieed, Doha, Wakrah and Al Khor.
The Met office has forecast winds at 18-28 knots on the shoreline. Winds may gust upto 35 knots. However by late in the evening it is set to fall to 10-17 knots. It is likely to be equally windy offshore.
Visibility may drop to 2km or less even though the general level could be anywhere between four and seven km. Waves are likely to go up to 8ft in many locations.

New majlis for fishermen opened  in Al Wakrah
The Private Engineering Office has inaugurated the newly renovated Al Wakrah fishermen majlis (lounge), local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday. The new building is in the same area as the old one near Al Wakrah fish market. Fishermen from Al Wakrah are highly appreciative of the development.
