Passengers arriving  at Hamad International Airport (HIA) were greeted and treated by Qatar Tourism Authority as part of its Garangao celebration.
The transit passengers were treated to a taste of Qatari heritage, through a vending machine dispensing free traditional Garangao gift bags of nuts and candies, as well as a short video introducing the celebration and its significance in Qatari culture.
QTA also organised Garangao activities at Souq Waqif and Doha Exhibition Centre, drawing large crowds of children and adults alike through giveaways and a Garangao instant photo booth.
“Despite the fast-paced growth Qatar is witnessing, it is a country with deep cultural roots, and our Garangao celebrations are an important way of sharing our unique local traditions with visitors and residents alike,” said Saif al-Kuwari, public relations and communication director at QTA. “We were delighted to include visitors in our celebrations with generous support from our partners at Souq Waqif and HIA.”
