Beneficiaries of QC Indonesia’s Ramadan campaign receive boxes of food items during the turn over ceremony.

Qatar Charity (QC) in Indonesia has distributed 2,300 food baskets for Ramadan to needy families and to the families of orphans in Jakarta, Bogor, Aceh, Garut, and Yogyakarta in a ceremony attended by QC staff in Indonesia and the beneficiaries.
QC usually distributes food baskets one or two days before Ramadan to enable the target families to prepare good meals for the first day of the holy month. Each basket contained rice, oil, sugar, syrup, yogurt, fava beans, soya, dates, tea, coffee, and honey.
Also, QC in Indonesia has a special Iftar programme this year, which consists of 35,000 meals worth QR359,000 in addition to 2,300 food baskets distributed to fasting families. The project was implemented in 18 Indonesian governorates, in co-operation with 94 affiliated foundations.
Karam Ali, director of QC office in Indonesia, said QC was keen to distribute the baskets early, in co-operation with several centres founded by QC donors to share in this year’s Iftar activities. It was also eager to co-operate with several local partners to implement the project, he added.
QC also launched a new campaign for Ramadan entitled “Ramadan of Smiles.” The project’s total estimated cost inside and outside Qatar exceeded QR58.2mn or a QR14.6mn increase compared to last year’s project.
The expected number of people benefiting from this campaign is more than 2mn people.
In the first quarter of 2015, QC has implemented 260 projects in Indonesia. Since the opening of its Indonesia office in 2004, the activities of QC varied to include medical care, sponsorships and  income-generating projects.
