The Foreign Ministry launched the second version of its smartphone application under the name “Foreign Ministry - Qatar” which was developed to be a means of communication with the nationals outside of the country to help them in emergency.
Dr Said Mohammed al-Kuwari, director of the Information Systems and Technology Department at the Foreign Ministry, and several of heads of different departments attended the launching ceremony.
The new application is characterised by a secured information recording service before the travel of citizens, and GPS in emergency situations. Citizens can also send any emergency requests to the ministry through the app.
The application also provides important information to connect with Qatari diplomatic missions overseas, and missions of brotherly and friendly countries accredited in the state, as well as information about visas for Qatari nationals in other countries and non-Qataris coming to Qatar, in addition to the ministry’s latest news.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr al-Kuwari said the launch of the application reflects the ministry’s keenness on the safety of citizens out of the country and its commitment to providing the best services.
He urged citizens to take advantage of the information and the services available in the application such as the registration before traveling service in order to enable the ministry to communicate with citizens when they are in need of help.
