Qatar has reiterated its firm support for the struggle of the Palestinian people in order to recover their legitimate rights and establish their independent sovereign state with its capital in East Jerusalem.
This came in a speech delivered by ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah al-Henzab, Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, at the general debate on the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories during the 29th session of the Human Rights Council, Item (7).
Al-Henzab said the lack of seriousness of Israel, the occupying power, in co-operating with the United Nations mechanisms underscores the fact that the Israeli decision to resume co-operation with the Human Rights Council was the result of deals and understandings which are a far cry from the faith and the Council’s work which seeks to promote and protect human rights.
He added that Israel is continuing serious violations of human rights of the Palestinian people, and depriving Palestinians of their full rights guaranteed by international charters and conventions, a matter which contravenes international humanitarian law.
