Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has been honoured with five healthcare innovation awards at the sixth annual Cerner Middle East Regional User Group 2015 Conference in Dubai recently.

The awards were hosted by the US-based Cerner Corporation, a global leader in healthcare information technology systems. The annual conference is a platform to recognise the most inspiring healthcare technology adoptions undertaken by Cerner Corporation’s clients in the Middle East.

At the conference, three awards were jointly presented to HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation. These included: Highest Usage of Dynamic Documentation of Cerner Clients Worldwide, placing HMC and PHCC as leaders in the world for the use of dynamic documentation; Top Ten Highest Usage of Favourites Folders for Placing Orders of Cerner Clients Worldwide; and Top Ten Lowest Usage of Search for Placing Orders of Cerner Clients Worldwide.

Dr. Abdulwahab al-Musleh, deputy chief medical officer for Clinical Information Systems (CIS) at HMC commented: “This is a great accomplishment for HMC and for the entire staff who are working hard to ensure we are reaching international standards in healthcare information technology management. These awards particularly demonstrate the high quality of CIS training being delivered to HMC and PHCC professionals in Qatar.”

HMC also received the ‘Achievement and Innovation in Patient Care Delivery Award’ for its implementation of Cerner’s St.John Sepsis Rescue Agent, which enables healthcare organisations to reduce sepsis cases by detecting warning signs at an early stage.

Also at the awards, HMC’s Health Information and Communications Technology Department was presented with the Best in Innovation Award for the development of an IT-Robot solution that automates a number of repetitive administrative and clerical tasks eliminating the need for any human intervention.

HMC’s Nursing Informatics Department, was also acknowledged for outstanding performance, as represented through an academic poster submission entitled: “Innovating the Training Experience: Nursing Informatics Department and the Clinical Information System Journey.”

The poster presented new approaches in enhancing patient healthcare delivery through an innovative training approach for the nursing staff.
