Hamad International Airport (HIA) has started levying charges at its 2,540-car capacity long-term parking area, it is learnt.

The rate is QR45 per day (or for every completed 24 hours) or QR2 per hour (or any part thereof), according to the information provided on http://dohahamadairport.com. The daily fee for long-term parking at the old Doha International Airport was QR50.

Payment booths had been built at the entrance of the long-term parking area, which has dedicated slots for people with disabilities and a separate designated parking area of about 1,000 slots for HIA employees.

Located on the southern end of the passenger terminal, HIA’s long-term parking area offers covered and secured parking for up to 60 days with complementary shuttle service to the terminal every 15- 20 minutes.

A lost ticket will cost passengers QR35 in addition to the actual tariff for the duration of parking. Travellers, who intend to use the long-term parking, are also advised to arrive in advance to avoid any incidents or delays.

An airport staff said parking charges had been implemented since May 2, a few weeks after HIA announced it would introduce a payment structure for its long-term car park.

In a press statement issued in April, HIA said passengers could pay either by cash or credit card at any of the booths upon their exit from the car park.

Besides the free shuttle service and six air-conditioned waiting kiosks, HIA also announced earlier that it would introduce other amenities in the coming months.

The short-term parking is free for the first 30 minutes. The charge for the first hour is QR5 and QR10 for two hours. Succeeding hours is QR5 each and a lost ticket will cost QR35.

“The east short-term car park is more convenient for passengers flying with Qatar Airways while the west short-term car park is better suited for passengers travelling with all other airlines,” HIA said on its website.
