The Cultural Salon of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage held on Monday evening a seminar to discuss the Turkish drama and its impacts on the Arab drama at Jassim Zeini Hall at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Dr Abdul-Latif Mahmoud, Professor of Higher Education and Professor of the Novel and Cinemas at the University of Hassan II in Morocco, presented a research paper on the Turkish drama and its influence on the Arab society in which he discussed the TV drama and its structural characteristics and forms of influence.
Meanwhile, Qatari writer Wedad al-Kuwari talked about the Qatari drama and stressed that it has succeeded, for a long time, to play an important social role and provide sophisticated art through a lot of successful works.
She called for providing support for meaningful and fun drama that deal with social issues with a realistic look away from series that differ from the Arab culture and environment.
The seminar also shed light on the history of the Turkish drama and how it has contributed to the tourism promotion of the State.
The seminar included interventions from the audience on the issue, mostly focused on the need to develop the Arab drama because it reflect Arab issues, reality and culture.

Doha Girls’ Forum becomes independent centre
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has decided to turn the Doha Girls’ Forum, which was following the Doha Youth Center, into an independent centre. The decision comes in the framework of the ministry’s plan to turn girls’ forums into centres and establish new centres for girls in the state.  Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry Hamad Salem Mjeghir announced the decision during a joint press conference with the Executive Director of the Centre Horiyah al-Ajami on Monday evening.  He said that the decision represents a new beginning for youth work in the state, noting that the goal is to make girls’ forums independent in management and budget, and free to practise their activities.
He stressed that the decision will increase the administrative awareness for girls and will have a positive impact on them.  He added that HE the Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali is keen on having special centres for girls to enable them in all administrative and financial aspects and their own activities.

Qatar team attends Riyadh meeting

Senior officials from the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning attended the 30th meeting of GCC municipalities held in Riyadh. Doha Municipality Director Mohamed Ahmed al-Sayyed led Qatar’s delegation which also had Public Affairs Director Hamad Ali al-Kaabi, Communications Officer Sultan Khamis, members Misbah Shiban al-Kuwari and Abdullah Hamad al-Baker. The officials discussed reports of specialised technical teams, the GCC Award for Municipal Work, beautification of cities, the unified GCC building code and the preparation of a unified GCC strategy for municipalities.

Mers patient in Qatar recovers

The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has announced the recovery of a Middle East Respiratory Syndrome - Coronavirus (Mers-CoV) patient, who was announced to be infected on May 19.
The 29 year-old expatriate man was undergoing treatment at Hamad General Hospital. Tests and checkups showed that he has recovered completely from the disease. He has already left the hospital.
Currently, there are no other Mers-CoV cases in the country, according to a statement from the SCH, which reiterated its preparedness to handle any suspected infections.

Real estate transaction

Total trading of real estate sales contracts registered with the Land Registry Department of the Ministry of Justice in period from June 7 to 11 reached QR1.3bn.  
The real estate sales included lands as well as multi-use housing units and buildings.
