Large barrels with liquor confiscated from the accused

Three people have been arrested by North Security Department for producing homemade liquor for sale, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior on its Facebook page.

During routine patrolling, one of the North Security patrols spotted a vehicle in a suspicious condition. As the security persons approached the vehicle, the driver tried to run away but police followed him and took him into custody.

A total of 350 bottles, each holding 1.5 litres, filled with liquor-like liquids, were found in the vehicle. During interrogation, the accused confessed to production and sale of liquor with the help of two others at his home.

After making legal procedures in coordination with Rayyan Security Department, Al-Fazaa and Criminal Investigation Department, North Security searched his home and arrested two of his helpers who were also of the same nationality.

The search yielded 1220 bottles of 1.5 litre capacity each and 55 large barrels with a capacity of 200 litres each filled with liquor. Materials and equipment used for producing liquor were also found.

A large amount of money was also seized, with the accused confessing they were the proceeds from liquor sale.

The accused were referred to the public prosecution for further legal procedures to produce them in court.
