Qatar National Import and Export Company (QNIE) sponsored yesterday a food safety seminar in Doha, highlighting the world-class practices within the meat processing and supply chain industry.
Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) Middle East and North Africa international business manager Dr David Beatty and MLA corporate master chef, business development manager and celebrity chef of Fatafeat TV fame Tarek Ibrahim chaired the event.
Dr Beatty briefed the food industry professionals on the safe and hygienic handling of red meat and its attributes.
“Australia exports more than 60% of the red meat it produces and is a global leader in meat science, technology, research and development,” he said while pointing out that Qatar is a valuable importer of Australian meat and livestock, with the market showing continuous growth.
Chef Ibrahim gave a presentation on the excellence of Australian red meat processing. The event was attended by representatives from the Municipality of Doha, Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, management of leading key account chains operating in Doha and quality assurance managers of various star hotels.
“This seminar is yet another step towards ensuring quality meat import and consumption in Qatar,” stated QNIE’s senior human resources and administration manager Sameer Mazhar. QNIE is one of the largest food import and distribution firms in Qatar, he added.
