HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullahbin Zaid al-Mahmoud arrived here yesterday to represent Qatar at the inauguration ceremony of Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir today for a new five-year term.
HE al-Mahmoud was welcomed at Khartoum International Airport by Assistant President Abdurrahman al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, Federal Health Minister Bahar Saad Abu Garda, Minister of State at the Presidency Dr Ahmed Fadhul and Qatar’s ambassador to Sudan Rashid bin Abdurrahman al-Nuaimi.
In a statement to reporters on arrival at Khartoum International Airport HE al-Mahmoud said he was assigned by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to represent Qatar at the celebrations marking the inauguration of President Bashir.

Qatar, Turkmenistan ties reviewed

HE the Foreign Minister’s Assistant for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi met the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan yesterday.  
They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of joint interest. A number of officials from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.

Djibouti minister meets Qatar envoy
Djibouti’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ali Yacoub Mahamoud met Qatar’s ambassador to Djibouti Jassim Jaber Jassim Sorour.
They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them.

Qatar, Jordan discuss bilateral ties

Jordanian Interior Minister Salama Hammad met Mubarak bin Mohamed al-Khalifa, acting Charge d’Affaires at the embassy of Qatar in Amman. During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Qatar and Jordan in various fields.

Transport Minister meets Eritrean ambassador
HE the Minister of Transport Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti met Eritrean ambassador in Doha Ali Ibrahim Ahmed. They reviewed relations in the transport sector between Qatar and Eritrea and means of developing them.

Advisory Council holds meeting
The Advisory Council held its regular weekly session chaired by HE the Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
The Advisory Council discussed two draft laws during this week’s session. The first was regarding reconciling in crimes under some of the municipal laws.  
The second was issuing a law regarding the unified guiding regulation for the control of substances that deplete the ozone layer in the GCC.  
The council decided to refer the two drafts to the Services and Public Utilities Committee for a report.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee met yesterday under its rapporteur Saqr Fahad al-Meraikhi.
The Committee studied a draft law on the issuance of a unified guiding regulation for the control of substances that deplete the ozone Layer in the GCC countries and decided to furnish a report to the Advisory Council.
The committee also studied two draft laws on arbitration in crimes stipulated in some municipal laws and decided to complete its study at a future meeting.
Separately, the Advisory Council’s Financial and Economic Affairs Committee met under its rapporteur Mohamed Ajaj al-Kubaisi.
The committee continued the examination of proposed amendments to Law No 26 for 2008 on the rationalisation of electricity and water consumption. The committee decided to invite HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada for his views on the draft law.

Speaker meets Pakistani officials
Advisory Council Speaker HE Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi met the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and his accompanying delegation yesterday.
During the meeting they discussed parliamentary relations between Qatar and Pakistan  and means of developing them.
Advisory Council Controller Mohamed Abdullah al-Sulaiti, Council member Saqr Fahad al-Meraiki and Council Secretary General HE Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen attended the meeting.

Palestinian leader concludes visit
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas left Doha yesterday, after a short visit to Qatar.  
Bidding the president farewell at the Hamad International Airport was Palestine’s ambassador to Qatar Moneer Ghanam.

Qatar-Nepal ties discussed

Finance Minister of Nepal Dr Ram Sharan Maha met Qatar’s ambassador Ahmed Jassim al-Hamar yesterday.
They reviewed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them. They also discussed preparations of Nepal for the international conference it will hold for the rebuilding of the country after a series of devastating earthquakes that hit the country.  The proposed date for the conference is June 25

Labour Minister leaves for Geneva
HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Dr Abdullah Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi left yesterday to Geneva, heading Qatar’s delegation that will participate the 104th Session of the International Labour Conference.
The conference will discuss a wide range of issues, including the transition from the informal to the formal economy.
