Qatar Scientific Club (QSC), in collaboration with the US embassy, has opened the Ibn Al Haytham Scientific Centre in Doha.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed by QSC and the embassy to run the newly opened centre. US ambassador Dana Shell Smith and QSC chairman Fahd bin Mohamed al-Kuwari inaugurated the centre on Thursday.
Smith affirmed that the opening of the centre was an outcome of the active partnership between QSC and the embassy. The centre will provide facilities and equipment for the training of students with scientific interests to boost their understanding of relevant topics and encourage them to be creative.
Al-Kuwari said the centre would introduce further areas of co-operation with the US embassy in the field of science.
He added that QSC would soon launch the first competition in the area of innovation and manufacturing for school students in Qatar.
