The Ramadan Sports Festival organised by Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) over the past three years is set to return with competitions in 12 different sports to be held from June 22 to July 6.
RSF this year accommodates the participation of nearly 1,000 competitors through 100 teams and registration is now open at www.lifeinaspire.qa/ramadan, according to a statement.
Sports competitions this year include football, basketball, American football, beach soccer, volleyball as well as table tennis for people with special needs.
The festival presents, for the first time this year, competitions in futsal 5X5 for women and juniors.
On the occasion of finalising the arrangements for the Ramadan sports programme, Abdullah al-Khater, events manager at Aspire Logistics - a member of AZF, said: “We at Aspire Zone are delighted to provide a varied and distinctive bouquet of competitions that makes the AZF Ramadan Sports Festival the most popular one in Qatar, given the diversity of games targeting different age groups and their needs.
“The increasing number of participants each year, and the positive feedback we receive from them, urges us to do our best in organising this festival every year, accomplishing our mission to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, especially during the days of the holy month.”
Aspire Zone’s team is keen to provide a variety of sports and events to suit all categories of participants, including men, women, children and people with special needs, the statement notes. A tournament for special needs is organised every year in collaboration with Qatar Paralympic Committee. Meanwhile AZF continues to co-operate with Qatar Women’s Sport Committee this year to organise various women’s tournaments.
All the competitions begin at 9.30pm and continue until around midnight.
