‘Abandoned boat’, by Shahid Mahmood Mirza, is the winner of the fourth instalment of the Gulf Times Instagram contest.
Mirza, a 36-year-old Pakistani expatriate, is a project mechanical engineer. He has been in Qatar for more than four years and works for Qatar Fertiliser Company (Qafco).
Mirza says photography has been his favourite pastime and an inspiration for more than 12 years. His areas of interest are portrait and landscape photography.
Altogether 35 Instagram followers liked the ‘Abandoned boat’ which also attracted a couple of comments.
The winning entry was among the seven photographs published in the fourth instalment of the contest.

Contest V

The fifth instalment of the Instagram competition starts today. Send in your photos shot in Qatar to: [email protected]. Shortlisted pictures will be posted on the Gulf Times Instagram account, with the name of the photographer mentioned.
The picture that gets the maximum number of likes and comments during a seven-day period will be declared the winner.
A like will get the picture one mark and a comment will fetch two marks.

The winning picture will be published in the Gulf Times print edition as well as on the web edition of Gulf Times, along with a short bio of the photographer.
