Mowasalat would explore the possibility of using smaller buses for the West Bay circular services to meet the needs of those visiting the area's offices.
This was disclosed by Mowasalat Support Services executive director Nasser al-Khanji when pointed out by Gulf Times that the big buses, used for the circular services now, are mostly operating without even a single passenger, except for a short period in the mornings.
"There is a marginal improvement in the patronage of West Bay circulars now, compared to what it was a year ago," the official claimed.
Answering another query, al-Khanji said Mowasalat added four circular/semi-circular routes, without touching the Doha Bus Station, based on the suggestions which appeared in the Gulf Times.
The bus services are 301,302, 303 and 304, and the frequency on some of the routes has been increased in recent weeks.
Some services, which used to be operated once an hour, now run in 45-minute intervals while others at 45-minute intervals are now available once every 30 minutes, he said.
The company has also equipped as many 87 of the public transport buses with mobile satellite system. This has been done both to help people with special needs as well to count the number of bus passengers, he added.
Mowasalat public relations manager Khalid Kafoud, CEO Khalid Nasser al-Hail, assistant director (support services) Hassan Badr and Karwa Services director Mohamed Ali were also present on the occasion.
