A delegation from Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation, presided over by Ishaaq Ahmed Hashim, president of the executive committee and board member, has handed over 100 caravans to provide shelter to Syrian
refugees at Al Zaatari camp in Jordan.
This has been done under a contract the foundation signed with Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) in March. The contract stipulated that Jassim & Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation would finance the construction of 100 caravans at a cost of QR1,200,000.
Hashim handed over keys of the caravans to
Syrian refugees during the inaugural ceremony.
In his speech, Hashim emphasised that the project funding has been made under the command of HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, chairman of Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation, as a priority for “alleviating the suffering of the Syrian brothers”.
He stressed that Syria would get a fair share of support from the foundation and that a number of development and reconstruction projects in the health and education sectors would be implemented in the future.
Hashim said the caravans include kitchens, toilets and come with modern finishing, adding that the construction took one month, starting on April 15.
He pointed out that the foundation is a leading charitable entity that works independently in providing the requirements of marginalised communities and vulnerable groups that face the risks of poverty, disease, illiteracy and disaster.
He said the foundation believes in the importance of humanitarian work based on human values and the concept of social support for achieving the ambitions of the founders of Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation towards realising the value of social justice.
