HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed  Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi met GCC environment undersecretaries on the occasion of their 35th meeting that was held in Doha.
Discussions focused on various environmental issues that were discussed during the meeting.

Assistant FM holds talks with former
Nigerian president

HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Co-operation Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met Nigeria’s former president Olusegun Obasanjo, who is currently visiting Qatar.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interest on the African and international arenas.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Ministry’s officials.

Labour Minister
meets Vietnam
ambassador


HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Dr Abdullah Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi yesterday met Vietnamese ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Hoang.
During the meeting, they discussed aspects of co-operation and ways of developing them, in addition to issues of mutual interest.
A number of senior ministry officials attended the meeting.

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari yesterday met Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kentaro Sonoura, currently on a visit to Doha.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on cultural ties between the two countries and ways of boosting and developing them. Talks also touched on Qatar-Japan Cultural Year 2012 and the role it played in developing ties.

Hearing postponed

The Court of Appeal has postponed hearing in a case, in which a Qatari woman incurred a loss of QR17mn in the stock exchange, to October 11, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
The Court of First Instance had punished the director of a broking firm that used to manage her shares, and his assistant, to three years in jail each and deportation upon completion of the sentence. Besides, they were fined QR200,000 for mismanagement.   
It was claimed that the broker got the woman to sign more than 50 purchase orders and sold them without informing her about the content of the order, which led to the loss, according to the report.
