Katara, the Cultural Village Foundation, announced the names of the winners of the first edition of Katara Arabic Novel Competition.
The winners for the category of published novels are: Ameer Tajalsir (Sudan), Munira Sawar (Bahrain), Nasserah al-Sadoun (Iraq), Ibrahim Abdulmajid (Egypt) and Wassini al-Araj (Algeria).
In the category of unpublished novels the winners are: Jala Barjas (Jordan), Abduljalil al-Tohami (Morocco), Mislun Hadi (Iraq), Zakariyah AbuMaryah (Morocco), and Sameh al-Jabbas (Egypt).
Each wining published novel was given a prize of $60,000, and  the unpublished $30,000 each.
Besides,  Wassini al-Araj won a prize of $200,000 for the best work that could be converted into a drama.
