HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, has called for intensifying efforts to achieve joint economic growth of GCC states.
Addressing the 51st meeting of GCC trade co-operation committee which began in Doha yesterday,
HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, who is the chairman of the current session,  stressed the importance of economic and trade co-operation as a guarantee for enhancing GCC joint action and boosting development efforts and overcoming all challenges.
GCC ministers of commerce and the delegation of GCC general secretariat are attending the meeting.
The Commerce Minister noted that the meeting establishes a new foundation for activating GCC’s joint strategy to push forward development efforts and achieve the member-states’ aspirations towards further integration and synergy.
In light of the vision of GCC leaders, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim expressed confidence that the meeting will achieve the desired goals and meet the aspirations of GCC people.
In this context, HE the Minister stressed the importance of adopting and supporting creative initiatives to overcome difficulties, obstacles and challenges, implementing all legislations and finding appropriate solutions to the issues of trade exchange.
Meanwhile, GCC Secretary General Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani said that Qatar today hosted four important meetings for GCC economic co-operation, namely: the GCC trade co-operation meeting, GCC industrial co-operation committee meeting, GCC Standardisation Organization (GSO) meeting, and GCC accreditation centre meeting.
Al-Zayani expressed hope that the meeting will lead to positive decisions to promote GCC joint economic co-operation in order to realise the directives of GCC leaders and hopes and aspirations of their citizens.
