Iceland’s official


HE the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi met Sunna Gunnars, Iceland’s political adviser to the foreign minister.
They discussed relations between Qatar and Iceland and ways of enhancing them in addition to issues of common concern.

Ecuador’s envoy
visits Katara


Ecuadorian Ambassador to Doha Kabalan Abi Saab yesterday visited Katara where he proposed an Ecuadorian event to be held there in the second half of the year.
He hailed the efforts of Katara in providing a common ground between innovators and intellectuals from different nationalities and types of arts.
Katara Director General Dr Khalid Ibrahim al-Sulaiti welcomed the proposal, adding that Katara constantly strives to extend bridges of communication among peoples. Katara hosted an Ecuadorian cultural week in October 2013 in an event that drew large crowds.

Panglima Joseph Kurup, Malaysian minister in the prime minister’s department in charge of national unity and performance management, met Qatar’s Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur Issa bin Mohamed al-Mannai in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
They reviewed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them.

Symposium on
communicable
diseases held

The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) conducted yesterday a symposium on event-based surveillance systems and International Health Regulations (2005).
Dr Hamad Eid al-Rumaihi, Director of Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control Department at SCH, revealed that the early-warning system for detecting communicable disease will be launched next year. He said the system will focus on various health risks, whether environmental or biological, chemical or radiological to help  a fast monitoring, reporting and containing these risks.
