A fire broke out at a construction site near Bani Hajer roundabout at the western end of Qatar Foundation, causing extensive damage to construction materials and an office at the site.
Several porta cabins were reportedly destroyed in the fire which started around 10.30 pm on Monday and continued beyond 3.30am yesterday.
The fire destroyed the project office of a construction firm which is executing several projects in and around Gharaffa and Bani Hajer.
Several fire engines and water tankers were deployed to extinguish the fire.
Since Thursday, there has been a spate of fire incidents in Doha, especially in Sailiyah and on the western side of Doha.

Al-Kuwari, Jesse Jackson hold talks
HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari yesterday met with former US presidential nominee and civil rights activist Jesse Jackson.
He is in Qatar to take part in the 15th Doha Forum and the Enriching the Middle East’s Economic Future Conference.
Talks during the meeting covered cultural and humanitarian issues in the international arena, and the role of culture in bridging the gap between people.
Jackson praised Qatar’s policies and its important role in promoting freedoms, and said Doha has truly become the capital of conferences aimed at achieving a bright future for all people.

Real estate deals

Real estate transactions registered with the Land Registry Department of the Ministry of Justice from May 3 to 10 was worth QR2.63bn. According to the weekly bulletin issued by the Department, the real estate sales included lands, shopping centres, houses, residential complexes and towers.
