Deputy PM meets UNDP official

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud yesterday met with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark. They discussed co-operation between Qatar and the UNDP in the development and reconstruction projects in Darfur. The meeting was attended by Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator & Regional Director for Arab States at the UN Development Programme Sima Bahos and the UN Resident and Humanitarian Co-ordinator in Sudan El-Mostafa Benlamlih.

Emir issues decrees and decisions
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued several decrees, decisions and instruments of ratification.
They include a decree ratifying a Memorandum of Understanding in tourism between Qatar and Croatia, another on co-operation agreement in the security field between Qatar and Azerbaijan, and an agreement regarding a joint supreme strategic committee between Qatar and Turkey.
The Emir also issued instruments of ratification for six agreements.
The first instrument of ratification was issued approving a co-operation agreement in the legal field between Qatar and Ecuador.
The second approved an agreement in the field of education, higher education and scientific research with Kyrgyzstan.
The third approved an agreement in economic, technical and scientific fields with Costa Rica.
Three other instruments of ratification were on avoiding tax duplication and prevention of fiscal evasion related to income tax with Fiji, Latvia and Gambia.
Also yesterday, the Emir ratified cabinet decision No 23 of 2015 amending some provisions of law no 34 expropriating some real estate for public use, and law No 7 of 2015 amending some provisions of Decree No 17 of 2009 concerning setting up a Qatari company to manage ports.


Deputy Emir opens meet

HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday inaugurated the 15th Doha Forum and Enriching the Middle East’s Economic Future conference at Sheraton Doha.
The opening ceremony was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, HE the Advisory Council Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi, Iraqi Vice President Iyad Allawi, Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, Former president of Tunisia Moncef Marzouki and a number ministers and heads of diplomatic missions.
The Deputy Emir later met the heads of delegations participating in conference.
Talks during the meetings focused on relations between Qatar and their countries.


Al-Kuwari meets Lebanese minister

HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari yesterday met with Lebanese Information Minister Ramzi Jreij who is visiting Qatar to take part in the 15th Doha Forum. They exchanged views on cultural relations between the two countries.
lHE Speaker of the Advisory Council Mohammed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi yesterday met Kosova Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci. They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them.
 

Advisory Council holds meeting
The Advisory Council yesterday held its weekly regular meeting under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker Mohammed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi. The Council discussed amending some provisions of law No. 34 for 2006 related to communication.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee met to study a draft law regulating registration of births and deaths.
The Council’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee also held a meeting and examined a proposal to amend some of the provisions of law No. 34 for 2006 related regulating communications.
lAdvisory Council Controller Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Sulaiti who is also the rapporteur of the Council’s Internal and External Affairs Committee yesterday met with Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Joint Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee of the Irish Parliament Pat Breen. They discussed relations between the two countries and means of developing them.
