LuLu Hypermarket Trading Co has achieved two international certifications: ISO 22000 (food safety management systems) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
With this, LuLu Hypermarket has become the first hypermarket in Qatar to get these prestigious certifications, the company said in a statement yesterday.
The certificates were handed over to Mohamed Althaf, director of LuLu Group International, during a ceremony held at LuLu Hypermarket, Al Khor, by Eckehard Bauer, executive vice-president of Quality Austria Worldwide, and Sunil Zachariah, general manager of Quality Austria Middle East.
This was done in the presence of several other officials from Quality Austria Gulf - Prabath D’silva, technical manager; Rajiv Fernando, training manager; and Aion Gregor Tubanza, administration and customer service manager – as well as Shaijan MO, regional director of LuLu Hypermarket Group; Shanavas PM, regional manager; Keith Smith, retail operations manager, and other officials from LuLu Hypermarket Group.
The assessment and certification of LuLu Hypermarket was done by Quality Austria, an accredited certification body.
Speaking on the occasion, Althaf said, “Gaining the ISO 22000 and HACCP certifications demonstrates our commitment to the production and distribution of safe food products. These certifications confirm our efforts to provide safe products to our consumers in Qatar and other
regions.”
Bauer said, “On behalf of Quality Austria, I congratulate the top management, food safety team and employees of LuLu Hypermarket for being the first retail establishment in Qatar to achieve the ISO 22000 certification.”
