Advisory Council meeting reviews two draft laws

The Advisory Council held its weekly session yesterday under HE the Speaker Advisory Council  Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
At the outset of the meeting, HE the Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen read the agenda which was agreed upon. Then the Council endorsed the minutes of its previous session.  
The Council reviewed the following two draft laws:
1. A draft law organising the registration of births and deaths.
2. A draft law amending some provisions of Law No 29 of 1966 organising Qatar’s sea ports and decided to refer them to the Services and Public Utilities Committee to study them and a furnish a report thereon to the Council.  
 Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Cultural and Information Affairs Committee met yesterday under its rapporteur Dr Mohamed Ahmed Obeidan.
The Committee completed study of the two draft laws:
1- A draft law regulating private schools.
2- A draft law regulating the practice of educational services.
The meeting was attended by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary-General of the Supreme Education Council Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi and Isam Mahmoud Abdul Ila, Legal Adviser at the Minister’s Office.
HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary-General of the Supreme Education Council explained the views of the ministry on the two draft laws and responded to relevant inquiries of the Committee’s members.
The Committee decided to furnish a report on the two draft laws to the Advisory Council.

HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari received a letter from Djibouti’s Minister of Islamic Affairs, Culture and Awqaf Adam Hassan Adam connected with aspects of co-operation in areas of mutual concern and means of developing them. The letter was handed over by Djibouti’s Ambassador to Qatar Momin Hassan Barre during a meeting yesterday with the Minister of Awaqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Panel to develop Qur’an memorisation centres

HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari  has issued an administrative decision setting up an executive committee for the development of the Holy Qur’an memorisation centres.
According to the decision, a joint executive committee between the departments of Mosques and Da’wa and Religious Guidance is to be formed to implement recommendations for the development of the Holy Qur’an memorisation centres.
The committee comprises Mohamed Ya’qoup al-Ali (Chairman), Hamad Abdullah al-Mahanna (Vice-Chairman), Saad Sultan al-Badr (Member), Mal Allah Abdurrahman al-Jaber (Member),  Youssuf Ahmed Asheer (Member), Khalid Walid al-Hammadi (Member) and al-Nu’man Imran Abdul Hameed (Rapporteur).

Justice Ministry hosts GCC meeting on family issues

Qatar’s Ministry of Justice will today host the first meeting of GCC officials for family counselling and reconciliation at Ritz-Carlton in Doha.
The GCC officials will discuss topics on family guidance, counselling, reconciliation, share experiences, expertise and official publications on strengthening the family at the meeting which follows the decision of GCC justice ministers at their 26th conclave in Kuwait.
The meeting will also hear experiences of Qatari family courts and their role in promoting family relations, which is one of the main objectives of the 2011-2016 National Development Strategy.
HE the Ministry of Justice Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs Ibrahim Musa al-Hitmi said the meeting comes within the framework of the decision of GCC justice ministers and in co-ordination with Qatar Foundation for Social Action, the Family Counselling Centre.

Greenhouse projects to achieve target within 18 months


Qatar Steel recently honoured 206 employees, who have served the company for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and - for the first time -  40 years, in appreciation of their devoted efforts and dedication.
Speaking at the event, Qatar Steel managing director and general manager Ali Bin Hassan al-Muraikhi commended the long service employees for their dedication and commitment throughout their service.
“It is our practice at Qatar Steel to honour the long service employees, which demonstrates our appreciation and pride in our manpower, who are the pillars in achieving our sustainable growth and in marching towards progress and development,”
al-Muraikhi said.
Qatar Steel has a pool of highly skilled employees from different departments and at all levels. “Our manpower used to play and will continue to play a significant role in enhancing the company’s image and operational excellence, maintaining high-quality products and services, to meet the expectations of our traders, customers and shareholders,” it was observed.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Kefah Mostafa al-Mulla, administration division manager and one of the honoured employees, delivered a speech. He extended thanks and appreciation to the company’s top management for its support and encouragement and for creating a pleasant working atmosphere, where mutual respect and friendly
employee relations prevail.
At the end of the ceremony, the honoured employees were awarded certificates of
appreciation.
