HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and French President Francois Hollande held a round of official talks at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
The meeting was attended by HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and a number of ministers.
On the French side, the meeting was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the French president.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them.
They also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.
Following the talks, the Emir and the French president witnessed the signing of an agreement on the purchase of Rafale jets, an agreement on the contract of Rafale arming, an agreement on the programme pertaining to the possession of Rafale jets and a declaration of intent between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development in the French Republic on co-operation in the organisation of matches of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
Later, the Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of President Hollande.
HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani attended the function.  
The luncheon banquet was also attended by HE the Advisory Council Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi and several Sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.
President Hollande left Doha yesterday evening wrapping up a one-day visit to Qatar.
The French president and his accompanying delegation were seen off at Hamad International Airport by HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari, Qatar’s Ambassador to France Sheikh Mishaal bin Hamad al-Thani and French Ambassador to Qatar Eric Chevallier.
