HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met GCC interior ministers who were in Doha for their 16th consultative meeting. Relations between GCC States were reviewed. The Emir wished the GCC interior ministers success in their meeting, which aims to enhance co-operation among GCC states in the field of security. The meeting was attended by HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.

GCC interior ministers have praised the efforts HH the Emir and Chairman of the current session of the GCC Supreme Council Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to enhance the joint Arab action.
At the close of their consultative meeting in Doha yesterday, the ministers praised the support HH the Emir lends to the GCC to enable it achieve the aspirations of the GCC states’ citizens.
GCC Secretary-General Abdul Latif al-Zayani said in a press statement that the GCC interior minister expressed appreciation at the wise directives the Emir gave when he received them yesterday on the occasion of their 16th meeting, held in Doha under the chairmanship of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, who is also chairman of the interior ministers’ current session.
The GCC Secretary-General explained that the ministers discussed a host of issues pertaining to the joint security action in all fields, and efforts being made by the security organs to enhance the joint co-operation and co-ordination to ensure security and stability in GCC states.
AI-Zayani said the ministers approved the mechanism of a unified terrorist list in order to strengthen the GCC joint security action in the fight against terrorism, noting that the ministers studied the regional security situation, challenges posed by the growth of terrorist organisations in the region and the crimes they commit.
He said the ministers praised the successful efforts made by security organs in Saudi Arabia which resulted in the arrest of terrorist cells belonging to Daesh terrorist organisation, as well as the efforts made by security organs in Bahrain which resulted in the arrest of an extremist terrorist group, stressing the GCC states’ determination to combat extremist and terrorist originations.
